With CMA Fest airing on July 19, fans will get an amazing performance from Yellowstone star Lainey Wilson. But she also made a name for herself in a way that has nothing to do with her impressive vocals: her equally bold approach to Hollywood fashion.
The country singer showed off her flair for couture when she walked the red carpet for the 55th annual CMA Awards in November 2021. There to present the award for Single of the Year, fans couldn’t believe how great she looked for her star-studded moment. Ditching her signature hat for the night, she showed up wearing a black long-sleeve blazer as a top that fit right in with her love for all things flashy and stunning.
Since her jacket made an impression on the red carpet ahead of the ceremony, it was only fitting Lainey would wear other daring accents as well.
To pair with the coat, the “Heart Like a Truck”musician wore tiger-patterned bell bottom pants and a black belt buckle to tie the look together. To match the sparkly moment, she added layered diamond necklaces and cocktail rings. What’s more, she styled her blonde hair in beach waves, with curtain bangs framing the face. To make it all cohesive, she put on bold eyeliner and a mauve-colored lipstick.
I’ll be honest, it didn’t. All I’ve ever wanted to do is sing country music and tell stories that people connect to. It wasn’t until once I saw how my career was starting to unravel and the opportunities that were coming my way I’m like, “Wow! There’s going to be other opportunities that come along with this that I never in a million years even imagined. Even thinking about being in Yellowstone, songwriting has opened a lot of doors for me that that I never knew really even existed.
When she posted highlights from the night on Instagram, folks made sure to let Lainey know how they adored seeing this look on her.
“You look absolutely fantastic,” one person wrote in the comments section. “Pop off Lainey 🔥🔥,” another added. “Girl look at you rocking that red carpet 🔥🔥,” a different follower chimed in.
At the CMT Music Awards 2023 red carpet, Fox News Digital spoke with the actress and singer about what’s happening with the series amid rumors its fifth season could be its last.
A little bit, but I will tell you that learning lines that I didn’t write is like learning a song that I didn’t write. I learned that I really just love being creative, so whatever that means. It was such a cool experience. The entire cast and crew of Yellowstone—just good, hardworking people—really embraced me and lifted me up. I didn’t know what to expect going into it but I learned a lot. It gave me an opportunity to share my music with the world and that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.
Wilson – who took home the award for Female Video of the Year -said, “I’ve realized the movie business is even crazier than the music business. So I’m not lying to you when I tell you I have no clue what is going on with ‘Yellowstone.’”
Wilson went ahead with filming, and by November 2022, she was able to bring her dad along with her to the Country Music Association Awards, where she won new artist of the year and best female vocalist.
“It was a miracle,” she says, growing emotional. “He’s not supposed to be here, and he is. When he was a little boy, he used to roll a picnic table out on the side of the highway and stand on top of it with his guitar and pretend that he was Glen Campbell for the cars passing by. So, he’s getting to live vicariously through me, and I’m so glad and so thankful that he is around to see the things that are happening right now. He’s real proud.”
